A group of passionate National Hunt racing fans and aficionados
Natinal Hunt racing brings together the best of the sport of horse racing. With its long history and its equine heroes that we all love and know, it is a sport that endears itself to its fans and has a special place in all of our hearts here at the NHRE Racing Club.
When we started our journey just a few short years ago, little did we believe we could get enough interest to get started, let alone have our first winner with our very first horse Ring Minella, who although no superstar, tried his heart out every time and has now been retired to a happy home where he now takes part in dressage and eventing activities.

Having ridden as a child, horses were always in our family, and the racing bug hit me very early but I was what you would consider a “Flat” man until my early twenties when I was introduced to National Hunt racing, and from there, my love affair with this code of the sport of horse racing has just grown.
I started working with William Hill as numbers had always fascinated me and it was my initial avenue into the sport. I am now seen most days at racetracks up and down the country and have been standing as a bookmaker for the last 12 years. I always enjoyed going racing but mostly by myself so started the club 5 years ago to bring like-minded people together to enjoy their passion for National Hunt Racing.

Having grown up with parents who loved racing, it was something that soon became a bug for me, and like many youngsters, I dreamed of being a jockey.
Many weeks during school holidays were spent at racing yards up and down the country, including at Bill Marshall, Gerry Blum, Ben Hanbury, William Hastings-Bass, Guy Harwood, and Ian Balding.
Being around horses was second nature and the passion for racing lives on even today.
A couple of racing claims to fame include winning the Racing TV Tipstar competition in 2014, getting run away with going the wrong way down the gallops at Pulborough, and probably most famously, getting run away with on Claire Balding’s Welsh Cob pony…………now you know why I never became a jockey.
